Corruption is «abuse of power in trusted positions for personal gain". This means that corruption is broad and encompasses more than pure financial fraud. Sexual harassment and nepotism are also examples of corruption and misconduct.
The long- term consequences of corruption are inhibited economic growth and that trust in democratic processes and political systems is undermined. LHL International therefore works systematically with capacity building, and prevention and control, of financial and other forms of corruption in our projects.
Applicable LHL International policy documents:
Any act of corruption and misconduct, large or small, is not acceptable. It is important that any real suspicion of corruption and misconduct, are notified and handled as early as possible. All notifications will be treated confidentially.
